Dr. David Henderson: A Lifetime of Healing—Bridging Conventional and Natural Medicine
With a career spanning over five decades across military service, global general practice, and pandemic leadership, Dr. David Henderson has dedicated his life to patient-centred care—blending the best of conventional and natural medicine to promote long-term health.
From Dublin to the Frontlines: A Medical Odyssey
Dr. Henderson’s journey began at Trinity College Dublin, where he earned a BA in French and History (1968) before completing his medical degree (MB BCh) in 1970. His early hospital training at Worcester Royal Infirmary and Warwick Hospital was followed by 24 years as an Army doctor, where he held leadership roles as a Hospital CEO in the Falklands, Hong Kong (military and civilian), and Medical Commander of the 3rd Armoured Division in Germany. His Primary Fellowship in Anaesthetics (1978) further honed his clinical expertise.
A Global Healer: Hong Kong and Beyond
Though trained in conventional medicine, Dr. Henderson has always embraced evidence-based natural therapies, integrating them where appropriate to support patient wellness. His special interests include:
- Child health, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Chronic conditions (allergies, depression, fatigue syndromes, gut disorders)
- Preventive and long-term health strategies
Answering the Call: The COVID-19 Vaccination Effort
His time in Hong Kong (1995–2019)—working in hospice care, family practice, and as Principal GP at Marina Medical Centre—deepened his understanding of chronic illness management in high-stress urban environments. He prioritized multidisciplinary, patient-tailored care, especially for expatriate and multinational communities.
Educator, Polyglot, and Advocate
Returning to the UK, Dr. Henderson completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Internal Medicine (University of Edinburgh, 2020)—then joined the frontline COVID-19 response. From February 2021 to November 2022, he served as a GP at the Kassam Vaccination Centre (Oxford), while supporting mass vaccination hubs in Reading and Stoke-on-Trent, ensuring vulnerable populations were protected.
A Legacy of Leadership and Care
Whether commanding military hospitals, guiding families through developmental challenges, or blending conventional and natural therapies, Dr. Henderson’s career reflects a singular mission: to heal, empower, and inspire lasting wellness—at every stage of life.
"Medicine should treat the whole person, not just the disease. Sometimes science has the answer; sometimes nature guides us. My role is to find the balance." — Dr. David Henderson
